The general purpose of this position:


Delivering steel to projects, Inspecting delivery vehicles, and ensuring the safety and security of the loading and unloading process. Contacts customers to confirm delivery details. Determines placement of merchandise follows safety and lifting protocols during deliveries and conducts safety reviews.


 


General responsibilities:

·        Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
·        Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
·        Normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or driving a GPS-monitored vehicle.
·        Transporting finished goods and raw materials to job sites and manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
·        Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and performing preventative maintenance
·        Ability to plan routes and meet delivery schedules
·        Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, cell phone, CB, etc.)
·        Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly away from home overnight or consecutive nights 
·        Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
·        Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in fluent English/Habla espaÑol is a plus
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and days
  • Forklift and overhead crane certified preferred
  • Be able to read and understand the material specifications on order tickets
  • Be able to read and decipher measurements using a tape measure and/or micrometer and perform general mathematical computations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

 


Driver qualifications

·        Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
·        Must be able to pass Pre-employment physical
·        No DWI or Reckless Driving convictions in the past 10 years
·        No more than 2 moving violations or accidents in the past 36 months (3 years)
·        No accidents in the last 12 months
·        Safe driving record
·        Ability to lift 75 pounds
·        Willing to submit to a background check and random drug screens
 

Authorities:


·      This position has the authority to purchase (fuel, fluid refills, washing) <Tires, maintenance, repairs, etc.>


·      This position has the authority to direct loading personnel in their activities, so the load is safe to transport.


·      This position has the authority to set hours of work during multi-day transports in compliance with DOT regulations.


 

 

 

 
Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
