Lyndon Steel Company, a leading structural steel fabricator, is seeking full-time Quality Control Associate to join our team.

Responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:

Ensure that all materials and workmanship are completed in accordance with AWS or AISC standards, drawings and specifications, as applicable per site.
Inspect materials and finished goods to ensure they meet customer requirements and/or contract specifications, including but not limited to checking welds, welding consumables, base material, cut & formed parts, layout work and coatings.
Review welding specs and/or requirements for each project and work with team to solve fabrication challenges.
Document and segregate non-conforming fabricated material and workmanship.
Review and work with site management & shop foreman to address remedies for non-conformances and their prevention.
Insure Welding Specification Procedures (WPS) are current and in place for projects,
Remain current with AWS CWI and CWB Supervisor &/or Inspector licenses, code analysis, industry standards, procedures and processes
Understand, support and implement company Quality Management System.
Work with shop supervisors to develop annual training programs for new and experienced employees to minimize non-conformance.
Represent the company, as needed, on field issues requiring investigation and decisions associated with product quality and conformance.
Apply and work within appropriate controls related to Safety and Housekeeping.
Operate overhead crane safely.
Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed; must be able to support first and second shifts.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 3 years quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
Must have the ability to interpret blue prints that are metal fabrication and welding related.
Must have the ability to read standard measuring equipment, including, height gage, micrometer, caliper, tape measurer, measuring scale and protractor.
Must possess solid interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must have the ability to use Microsoft office programs (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
Must have the ability to troubleshoot, brain storm, and determine root cause failures.
Must have a keen eye for cosmetic/aesthetic failures
Bilingual in Spanish/English and Statistical Process Control experience preferred but not required
CWI a plus.
Must be able to use measurement tools, read engineering drawings, have great attention to detail, knowledge of weld signs and welding a plus.
