We are looking for a diligent Structural Steel Erection Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.
The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills, an analytical mindset, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills so that accurate and detailed estimates can be created. The estimator is responsible for the timely submission of project proposals to clients and vendors. The estimator is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of estimates for project proposals.
As a candidate you must also be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons, existing clients and vendors, as well as developing relationships with new clients and vendors.

PRIMARY DUTIES
- Review potential projects and qualify such projects based on our company’s needs.
- Analyze plans, bills of quantities, project specs and all other pertaining project documentation to provide a detail estimate of project cost.
- Ability to recognize access needs and conduct site visits prior to submission of proposal.
- Upon award of project create detail project budgets for turnover to operations.
- Prepare reports detailing all the costs going into a project, inputting costs into software and present cost estimates to upper management for final review.
- Ability to perform well in high pressure situation.
- Meet proposal date deadlines.
- Communicate with project stakeholders throughout bidding phase.
- Provide detailed and accurate equipment, labor and material take-off’s for each project.
- Prepare preliminary project schedule based on the information in the Contract Documents and from the detailed estimate.
- Coordinate with client to ensure team is aware of any schedule constraints or expectations for the project.
- Provide operations team members all schedule and special construction considerations.
- Effectively communicate with team members.
- Adhere to Flex-Erect policies, procedures, safety requirements, and all standards AHJ.
- Participate in weekly Management meetings.
- Conduct project turnover meetings on awarded projects.
- Create and maintain client and vendor relationships.
REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT
- Reports to Houston Office for normal work hours.
- Travel to/from job sites as needed.
- Arrive fit for duty and to remain so for the entirety of the workday.
- Immediately report any “near misses”, accidents, and/or injuries to your manager.
- Able to see clearly using close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Able to talk, hear, write in English, read, type, use a computer, stand, walk, sit, bend, use hands and fingers.
- Climbing stairs (temporary or other), climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction.
- Exposed to loud noise, humid conditions, extreme weather including but not limited to heat, cold, and rain when on project sites.
- Ability to lift over 25 pounds, with or without assistance.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years Estimator experience in commercial structural steel fabrication or steel erection.
- High school graduate or GED preferred and/or 3-5 years combined education/training/field experience.
- Field Operations experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to learn and navigate computer software to complete work activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite of software.
- Able to work independently and with a team.
- Self-motivated.
- Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills.
WORK SCHEDULE
- 10 hours per day 4 days per week.
Compensation: $70,000.00 per year
