Full Charge Bookkeeper – Construction / Steel Erection
Location: New Jersey

We are seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage all accounting operations for a growing steel erection company based in New Jersey. This role supports both open shop and prevailing wage construction projects and requires hands-on ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, job costing, and compliance-related reporting.

This position works closely with ownership and project management and plays a key role in the financial health and operational success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

· Full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and monthly closings

· Payroll processing for open shop and prevailing wage projects, including certified payroll reporting

· Ensuring compliance with New Jersey and federal prevailing wage requirements

· Construction job cost accounting, including accurate allocation of labor, materials, and equipment

· Preparation and maintenance of weekly/bi-weekly Work in Progress (WIP) reports

· Financial reporting including P&L statements, balance sheets, and job cost reports

· Coordination with CPA for quarterly reviews and year-end reporting

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper, preferably in construction or steel erection

· Strong knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements in New Jersey

· Demonstrated experience with construction job costing and labor classifications

· High proficiency in QuickBooks Online

· Strong background in accounts receivable with a disciplined approach to accounts payable

· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
